Ministries

At Ss Peter and Paul’s parish, there are many ministries where parishioners can actively get involved in. If you would like to assist in any of the ministries below, contact the parish pastoral worker at liza.jansz@cam.org.au or ring the parish office at 9842 2056.

Liturgical Ministries

Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee assists the Parish Priest in enriching the liturgy for the parish community. These include preparing special liturgies and the church environment for selected liturgical events and feasts.

Rosters are also prepared for parishioners taking on the roles of commentators, readers, data operators and communion ministers at mass.

The parish has active music ministries for all masses and are constantly recruiting choir members and musicians.

Children’s Liturgy

The Children’s Liturgy Ministry is dedicated to bringing the Word of God to children in a comfortable and relatable environment, allowing them to connect God’s teachings to their everyday lives.

Our Children’s Liturgy sessions are held in conjunction with the Sunday 11.15am mass, occurring on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month.

At the begining of the mass. an announcement will be made to invite all children to participate the Children’s Liturgy. Following a blessing by the Priest, our dedicated volunteer liturgical leaders will guide the children to the narthex, where they listen to the day’s Gospel reading. These leaders will explain the reading and also engage the children in meaningful discussions about how it directly relates to their daily experiences.

After this enlightening discussion, we offer a variety of engaging activities, such as craft projects, music sessions, or other relevant activities, to reinforce the lesson and create a dynamic and immersive learning experience for our young participants. Our aim is to nurture a deeper understanding of faith and a strong connection to God’s teachings within our children’s hearts and minds.

Sacristan and altar servers
This ministry plays the important role of preparing the church for mass and assisting the priest during mass. The Sacristan in particular, prepares the church for mass and communion service throughout the week. The Sacristan also supports the parish priest in preparing for school masses and funerals at the parish.

Junior Altar Servers

The altar servers’ primary role is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass, including carrying the processional candle(s), holding the book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, and assisting the priest when he receives the gifts from the people.

Junior altar servers serve alongside adult altar servers at Saturday evening mass and Sunday morning masses. Children, both boys and girls, who have received their First Holy Communion, are welcome to participate in this Ministry. They will undergo a training session conducted by the Parish Priest and/or Sacristan, as well as mentoring by adult altar servers.

Participation in the Ministry of Junior Altar Servers is a wonderful avenue of fostering the spiritual growth of young children and teenagers. Register your child(ren)’s interest by emailing Liza at ssppjraltarserver@gmail.com or download and fill in the form and submit it to the parish office.
